About New Divine Mercy Hospital

Brief History

Established in 1971, Divine Mercy Hospital started as a diagnostic laboratory and outpatient clinic known as Midtown Clinic and Laboratories, located on Magsaysay Road in San Pedro, Laguna. Hospital Administrator Dr. Primo Guevarra Jr. and Medical Director Dr. Clemente A. Amante saw the need to offer a local alternative to patients in San Pedro and neighboring areas who previously had to travel to Manila for their medical needs. In a short span of time, the clinic's continuously growing patient volume led to an expansion. In 1974, it became Midtown General Hospital—a 7-bed primary hospital and the very first hospital in Laguna.

The steady growth in patient needs paved the way for a 30-bed secondary hospital under the able leadership of Hospital Administrator Mrs. Eva Guevarra and Medical Director Dr. Maximo Baltao. However, to keep pace with the rapid growth of the community, the incorporators decided to relocate the hospital to Amante Subdivision in San Pedro, Laguna. On October 27, 1990, it was inaugurated as Divine Mercy Hospital, with Mrs. Eva Guevarra continuing as Hospital Administrator and Dr. Adolfo Llanura serving as Medical Director.

After more than a decade of service, and in its desire to serve fully, the corporation decided to upgrade its facilities, renovate completely, and appoint Mr. Roger A. Tan as Hospital Administrator and Dr. Elvia Estanislao as Medical Director. Inaugurated on April 20, 2003, the New Divine Mercy Hospital is now ready to meet the increasing needs of its patients through the addition of medical specialists and the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment.

Divine Mercy Hospital has been a constant proponent of providing improved healthcare services to San Pedro and its neighboring areas, including Muntinlupa (the southern part of NCR) and Biñan (the second municipality of Laguna). Growing from a simple laboratory and diagnostic facility, it upgraded first into a primary-level care hospital and later into a secondary-level care hospital—all to better address the evolving needs of the community.

To fulfill the demand of patients with kidney problems, DMH started the operation of an 8-station dialysis center in 2011. All staff nurses are certified by the Renal Association of the Philippines.

In 2012, DMH undertook significant expansion programs like the construction of the Medical Offices Building, upgrading of diagnostic services (fully automated laboratory services, digital imaging radiological services, cardio pulmonary services) and increase in bed capacity to help satisfy the growing demands of the people.

In pursuit of delivering worldwide quality service, in 2017, it has been certified with ISO 9001:2008. Then in September 2018, transitioned its certification from to 9001:2015 where risk-based thinking became the focus of its business operations while strengthening the process foundations of its quality management systems.
